Under supervision, performs as a novice Independent Living counselor, providing basic rehabilitation caseload duties such as collecting information and making recommendations for determining eligibility, plan development, and implementation for Independent Living/Older individuals who require blind services. Coordinates services and teaching IL skills. Contacts consumers to begin collecting and evaluating/interpreting medical information. Provide caseload management services to include case record of consumer's progress. Jointly develops and plans out IL/OIB services, teaches skills such as home management, orientation/pre-cane skills. Develops referrals and provides outreach to legally blind individuals. Monitors caseload budget and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifying: All candidates who apply and meet the minimum requirements are eligible for placement on the register for hiring consideration.
VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION
Under supervision, gains skills to perform professional level vocational rehabilitation functions such as vocational or technology assessments, rehabilitation technology, rehabilitation instruction, personal adjustment, job development and job placement functions, basic public relations functions, supported employment and/or vocational evaluation; OR Under supervision performs as a novice counselor, providing basic vocational rehabilitation caseload duties such as collecting information and making recommendations for determining eligibility, plan development and implementation; and performs other duties as required.
Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Occasional travel will be required to coordinate services between customers and the agency.
Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check.
