Description of Job Duties
Under
supervision, provides direct evaluation and training to blind and visually
impaired consumers' at the McDowell Rehabilitation Center in the areas of home
and financial management. Provides supervision and detailed instruction to
consumers in the Independent Living class; documents and tracks consumers
progress; maintains a working file on activities; evaluates medical,
psychological, vocational and other reports; develops individual training plans
with emphasis on individuals with the most severe disabilities. Monitors the
budget for this department and makes purchases needed. Performs other duties as
assigned.

Characteristics of the Class :
Under supervision,
gains skills to perform professional level vocational rehabilitation functions
such as vocational or technology assessments, rehabilitation technology,
rehabilitation instruction, personal adjustment, job development and job
placement functions, basic public relations functions, supported employment
and/or vocational evaluation; OR Under supervision performs as a novice
counselor, providing basic vocational rehabilitation caseload duties such as
collecting information and making recommendations for determining eligibility,
plan development and implementation; and performs other duties as required.
Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements :
Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Occasional travel will
be required to coordinate services between customers and the agency.
