Essential
Functions:
This unclassified position has general supervisory and management responsibility
over the activities of the agency; performs related work as required, under
administrative direction of the Commission for Rehabilitation Services subject
to the rules and regulations of the agency. The position directs the
development of and provides supervision over a comprehensive plan for the
administration and management of agency activities; plans and develops a
suitable organizational structure within which the prescribed functions of the
agency can best be discharged; provides administrative oversight of agency work
operations and/or functional programs and has responsibility for employees
evaluations and for the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting and/or disciplining
of employees; coordinates the development of the annual budget request; and
directs the preparation of financial, statistical, operating and other reports
containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations necessary to promulgate
rules, regulations and decisions to safeguard the public interest. The position
reviews and evaluates any bill in the legislature that has an effect on the
agency’s policies and administrative activities and determines probable costs if
enacted; initiates and conducts policy-level meetings and conferences;
supervises the development of policies, programs and plans for the management of
the fiscal activities of the agency; maintains liaison with state and federal
officials; reviews all policies and procedures adopted by the agency,
recommending changes as necessary. The position is responsible for the
preparation of policy statements, procedural guidelines and public announcements
to the media.
Education and
Experience Requirements: Master’s Degree and
six (6) years of administrative experience in a large public or private agency,
three (3) years of which must have included supervision; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience. Preference will also be given to
applicants that have professional experience in vocational
rehabilitation.
Annual
Salary: Salary commensurate
with education and experience with a maximum annual salary possible set at
$123,000.
