Job Posting-Alaska Center f/t Blind & Visually Impaired

Discover an Alaska most people (even Alaskans) never get to visit The Alaska Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired is looking for a Certified Low Vision Therapist with O&M (or a COMS, with low vision experience) who would like to help build confident lives for people with visual disabilities in magnificent, livable Alaska. The position is headquartered in Anchorage. A portion of this professional’s time will be delivering Center-based instruction and low vision assessments. This staff member will also provide outreach and community-based training in town and village locations, some of which require jet and small plane travel to reach. Expect flexibility and a good deal of control in scheduling the frequency and length of trips. Beginning salary for the successful applicant who is ACVREP certified is $47,338 with fully paid health and dental benefits as well as generous leave. Twelve holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s. ACVREP certification fee paid. Professional liability insurance, mileage reimbursement and $40 monthly smart cell phone contribution. Chance to use frequent flier miles earned while traveling for work.
